Automotive & EV
Under-bonnet heat, vibration and fluid exposure rule out most general-purpose elastomers. Silicone earns its place where flexibility has to survive temperature.
We supply compounds for turbo and charge-air hoses, spark-plug boots, connector and sensor seals, battery-pack gaskets, and thermal interface pads for EV modules. Typical service conditions are 200 °C continuous with short peaks to 250 °C, and cold-start flexibility down to −50 °C.
One limitation worth stating plainly: standard VMQ swells in hydrocarbon fuel and some oils. Where the part sees fuel or aggressive oil, we will recommend fluorosilicone or tell you that a different elastomer family is the better answer — rather than sell you a grade that will fail in service.
Heat ageing
200 °C continuous, 250 °C peaks, with retained elongation rather than just retained hardness.
Compression set
Seals that keep sealing after thousands of thermal cycles, not just on day one.
Cold flexibility
No cracking at −50 °C during cold-start vibration.
Fluid awareness
We flag hydrocarbon swelling up front instead of discovering it in your validation.
Material Ranges Used in This Sector
These are the product lines we normally quote for Automotive & EV. If your part needs something outside them, tell us the requirement — custom formulation is a normal request, not an exception.
What Ships With the Material
Every lot leaves with paperwork. What changes by sector is which documents your customer will ask to see.
- COA per batch — hardness, tensile strength, elongation, tear strength and specific gravity on the lot you receive.
- TDS — full curing and processing guidance, not a marketing sheet.
- Compliance declarations — FDA, LFGB, RoHS, REACH, PAHS and VOM as applicable to the grade.
- Third-party test reports — arranged on the specific grade you buy, through SGS or an equivalent laboratory.
Certificate copies are available for download, and we can issue a declaration naming your market and application.
Questions Buyers Ask About Automotive & EV
No. Standard VMQ swells noticeably in gasoline and diesel. For fuel-contact parts the usual choice is fluorosilicone (FVMQ), and for some geometries a fluoroelastomer is better still. We will say so before you build a tool.
It depends on the grade, the post-cure and the test condition — 22 h at 175 °C and 70 h at 200 °C give very different numbers. Send us the target and the test standard and we will quote a grade against it.
No. We are ISO 9001:2015 certified. If your programme requires IATF 16949 we will tell you that upfront rather than imply a certificate we do not hold — some customers then qualify us as a raw-material supplier instead of a Tier-1 part supplier.
